Meet Our Massage Therapists

Andrew O’Brien – Massage Therapist

I have been a keen rugby union player since the age of 15 and have had my fair share of injuries. I was destined to play in the front row which has meant many visits to the treatment table. In 2002 I went on a tour to America and had my first Sports Massage. The benefit I gained from this was incredible, and in such a short time period. I knew from then that I wanted to dedicate my time to helping people through massage.

Suffering so many different injuries, I’ve had most treatments which are available on the market and what has worked best for me is chiropractic treatment and/or physiotherapy in conjunction with massage. Before I started working at the Oldham Chiropractic Clinic, I had been a client for over 10 years which goes to show just how much faith I have in them!

Some people can be put off when they hear the words ‘Sports Massage’ as they incorrectly assume they need to be sporty or involved in a specific sport when they do not. Massaging is beneficial to everyone no matter their gender, age, fitness or activity levels.

I provide a full range of massages from relaxing Swedish Body massages, Indian Head massages and Pregnancy Massages to the more vigorous Deep Tissue, Therapeutic and Sports massages. Whatever your needs, I will be able to cater for them whether you have had a sudden acute pain or long standing, chronic symptoms.I have been practicing as a Massage and Sports Massage Therapist for 8 years after qualifying from Oldham College.

I have also successfully completed a whole host of courses at the Manchester School of Massage so that my knowledge is continually developing. I help a variety of people ranging from professional athletes, cyclists, rowers and tri-athletes who require detailed and ongoing treatment programs to ordinary members of the public with bad necks or backs.

Massages compliment physiotherapy and chiropractic treatment so why not ask your treating practitioner for more information next time you are here?

Wiola Ramsey-Scott – Massage Therapist

Hello, I’m Wiola,  one of massage therapists at Thrive Wellness Chiropractic.

For as long as I can remember I have struggled with back pain, complements of my young age gymnastic training, and backpacking across all ranges of mountains in my home country, in America and here in the UK. I vividly remember one morning, bending down to pick up a towel after a shower and not being able to stand up straight,  paralysed with pain and fear. My mind went into panic, and the cries of my one year old daughter, who wanted to be pick up, made it worst.

Long story short, I ended up at a chiropractic clinic and after several adjustments I was able to walk, standing on my own two feet, amazed how the pain was just gone.

What followed, was several months of care to maintain a pain free life.

My personal experience and those close to me made me think, that there are people out there who need help and I can be that person who brings relief and allows them to live their lives at their optimum.

I have achieved my qualifications in massage therapy and since then I have been involved in helping individuals achieve their very best, well balanced, and pain free life.

I truly believe, the body we have been gifted, is the only one we have and it has to last us till the end. Why not look after it, keep fit and most of all, healthy?

Conner – Massage Therapist

Hello my name is Connor and I am one of the massage therapists at Thrive Wellness in the Huddersfield clinic.

I am the first team physio at Non league football club Golcar United & Halifax Women Football club with over four years experience as a soft tissue therapist. Having worked with both male and female sports athletes this has helped me become a better practitioner. I can cater to every individual members needs, which is important as everyone is different and may have different injuries or muscular issues.

I enjoy treating members and helping them live a pain and injury free lifestyle whether that’s treating a muscular/soft tissue injury, helping relieve general aches pains and muscle tightness or just providing a relaxing Swedish massage. Knowing that I am able to make our members here at Thrive Wellness feel better and improve their well-being is the reason I love my role and being part of this team.

Miles Peltier – Massage Therapist

Growing up as a young boy I was highly active in sports such as football, karate and taekwondo, so I was no stranger to a knock here and there. However, it wasn’t until I was 15 where I picked up my first major injury to my ankle whilst playing football, thus requiring physio and rehab treatment which thankfully got me back to doing what I love. After the tremendous help I had, from that moment onwards I knew that I wanted my future career to be involved in physical therapy and the recovery of others.

Inspired from this, I then went on to complete my BSc Sports & Exercise Science degree at Manchester Metropolitan University and my MSc Sports & Exercise Therapy degree at Leeds Beckett University, during which I have gained experience in clinical settings, and with elite athletes in sports such as football and rugby. Based at the Huddersfield clinic I offer sports massage and deep tissue massage, assessment of any injuries and I can provide any rehab advice that you may need.

Since working at Thrive it has highlighted the importance of chiropractic care, and when combined with massage therapy the impact can be highly beneficial. It brings me joy to be able to contribute and grow in such a great team.
